Within the tattooing industry, there are some images and placement areas that are more predominantly associated with one sex or the other, however in recent years this line is getting finer and the crossover less easier to differentiate. Wrist Tattoos For Men This could definitely be said of wrist tattoos for men as this was a popular location for many female tattoo enthusiasts in the past decade. Even on a man however, the wrist still only provides a fairly small skin surface so the designs for this particular body part cannot be overly large as the scale will not work so your tattoo won’t look right. In my opinion, script tattoos are ideal for this type of tattoo as long as you don’t choose too many words or an overly elaborate font. Names and dates – with the latter depicted in roman numerals – seem to be a popular choice for designs of this kind whether you opt for that of your significant or the names of your children, which could be a safer option perhaps than the former, longevity wise at least!

There are several different variations of wrist tattoos for men but while women often opt for pretty, small feminine images like a star, heart, flower, butterfly or the like, men choosing this placement are more likely to select images that have more masculine appeal. These would include designs such as the nautical star, zodiac signs, tribal symbols in darker or monochrome ink colors than the more colourful and detailed female versions often in slightly larger designs too. There has been a growing trend for written tattoos as opposed to the traditional pictorial images that are more commonly requested and any text in a foreign language or script looks particularly cool. Inspirational words and phrases are also popular either illustrated as a single word inked across the wrist in a horizontal direction or running along the side of the wrist vertically if you want to incorporate a few words together and need more skin surface to do so. You may even opt for a tattoo on each wrist, with a few words on each side which make a larger phrase or quote when you put both together alongside each other. Wrist Tattoos For Men However, one small word of warning if opting for these written designs, especially those in such a prominent location, and that is to make sure you always check the spelling or translation before having the words inked on your skin, permanently.

Another popular style of wrist tattoos for men are those that form a band around the wrist, to give a more manly bracelet-effect. While the female version of this tend to incorporate flowers and vines or similar girly images illustrated using fine lines and delicate ink colours, the male versions ooze masculinity. These tend to be depicted using thicker lines and darker colours – not unlike the tribal armband effect used on the upper area of the arm – and include images like barbed wire, flames or even stitches! Rapper Eminem has a tattoo of this nature on his left wrist which resembles a gothic-style bracelet in black ink that is not unlike some of the tribal-artwork designs available.
