Despite the controversy surrounding Christian tattoos for men, this is still a popular way for guys through their choice of body art to reflect their religious beliefs. This is particularly favored by younger men who want to display their devotion to Christianity in a manner that is deemed cool and trendy but still allows them to express this deeply personal statement about who they are and what they believe in. 
The younger generation also has fewer misgivings about the controversial nature of these designs, a matter which scholars have debated for centuries thanks to the biblical passage of the book of Leviticus which appears to some, to prohibit this act. However, there have been many differing interpretations of this, over the years with some believing the reference was actually forbidding pagan practices, rather than tattooing itself, as this ritual was predominantly associated with Paganism. Nowadays, while some religions still remain faithful to this text, many others are happy to express themselves by using body art in this way and as a result there are many religious icons that have been beautifully transformed into tattoo designs for this purpose.
One of the most favored iconic images associated with Christian tattoos for men, is of course the universally recognized sign of the cross, and the Latin cross in particular. This is an ancient symbol which has been at the heart of Christianity since biblical times and it is also widely requested by male tattoo enthusiasts for both theological and also aesthetic purposes. The cross is a very versatile image that can be reproduced as body art imagery in a variety of differing sizes and styles to suit small, medium and large body parts. Many Christians however, prefer to keep these designs small and plain, as befits their faith and everything that it stands for so these may often be depicted as very simplistic or tiny images inked discretely on a smaller surface of skin such as the hand or wrist. There are of course those who are happy to display more ostentatious body art designs to represent how they feel about their faith and therefore choose to pay homage to their beliefs with more elaborate designs. 
In this respect, the cross is often depicted in more complex and intricately detailed designs and may even be embellished with additional images perhaps following a similar theme such as the dove and the olive branch. Floral imagery is often used to adorn these cross designs too and this also offers a fitting tribute to a design of this kind, especially the lily or rose which have religious connotations of their own.
Perhaps one of the biggest trends in recent years that works perfectly for Christian tattoos for men, are those designs that use written letters, words and even numerals in place of the more conventional pictorial imagery. These can include a simple word or short phrase that is of personal significance or which is of inspiration to the individual however for a larger surface of skin one could even quote one’s favorite verse or even a full scripture passage if desired. These written designs can be depicted in a variety of differing font styles as well as in differing idiom however Christian inspired designs would be most suited to the Latin language or in script form using Hebrew letters.
